Stamp Booklets Art Museum

切手趣味週間は、郵便切手が持つ「美しさ」や「芸術性」といった文化的価値を一般の方々に広く認識していただくとともに、切手収集の趣味の普及を図るため、昭和22（1947）年に当時の逓信省が設定した「切手趣味の週間」をその始まりとしています。

Philately Week
Philately Week was established in November 1947 for the purpose of publishing the art and beauty of postal stamps and promoting stamp collecting.

今回の切手デザインは、江戸時代前期の狩野派の絵師・狩野探幽（かのうたんゆう）（1602（慶長7）年～1674（延宝2）年）の屏風「桐鳳凰図屏風（きりほうおうずびょうぶ）」（サントリー美術館蔵）を取り上げました。

Stamp designs
The designs of the stamps were taken from Phoenixes by Paulownia Trees (in the collection of the Suntory Museum of Art) painted on a pair of six-panel folding screens by Kano Tan'yu (1602-1674), an early Edo period artist of the Kano school.
