【共同発行について】

「赤毛のアン」は、カナダ発の小説として、日本でもよく知られており、カナダだけでなく日本でも人気が高い作品であるなど、日本とカナダの初の共同発行の題材としてもふさわしいものです。

今回、「赤毛のアン」が出版１００周年を迎えることから、それを記念して、両国が同日（平成２０年６月２０日（金））に共同発行します。

《赤毛のアン》

「赤毛のアン」（原題：Anne of Green Gables）は、１９０８年にカナダの作家ルーシー・モード・モンゴメリが発表した長編小説で、数十カ国で翻訳出版されています。

日本での人気も高く数多くの本が出版されている他、テレビアニメの放映、ミュージカル公演などがされています。

[Joint issuance]

“Anne of Green Gables” is a well-known novel by a Canadian author. It enjoys widespread popularity throughout the world, Japan included. The novel therefore seems to be the right theme for the first stamps to be jointly issued by Japan and Canada.
To commemorate the 100^th anniversary of the publication of “Anne of Green Gables,” both countries will jointly issue the stamps on the same day (June 20, Friday, 2008).

<<Anne of Green Gables>>
“Anne of Green Gables” is a novel written by Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery in 1908. It has been translated and published in dozens of countries.
The novel has enjoyed solid popularity in Japan and many books on Anne have been published. In addition, it has been released as an animated show for TV and also made into a musical.

【デザインについて】

切手シート上部の「グリーンゲイブルズのアン」と「グリーンゲイブルズ（アンの家）」の２枚の横長の切手は、カナダでデザインされたもので、日本とカナダの共通デザインとして発行します。

横長の８枚の切手は、テレビ番組「世界名作劇場シリーズ」で放送されたアニメーション「赤毛のアン」のアニメ原画を使用しました。それぞれの切手は、ストーリーにそった主要な場面をデザインしています。このアニメーションは１９７９年１月７日から同年の１２月３０日まで全５０話が放送され、その年の厚生省児童福祉文化賞を受賞しました。

グリーンゲイブルスのアン（赤毛のアン）は、グリーンゲイブルズのアン（赤毛のアン）・ライセンス局が登録した商標でカナダの公式マークです。

[Stamp design]

The two landscape stamps at the top of the stamp sheet-“Anne of Green Gables” and “Green Gables (House of Anne)”-were designed in Canada and are to be published as joint designs between the two countries.

The eight portrait stamps are based on original drawings from the animated film, “Anne of Green Gables,” which was released as part of the “World Masterpiece Theater” TV series. Each stamp depicts a major scene. Fifty episodes of the animated version were aired between Jan. 7 to Dec. 30, 1979. The show was even awarded the Children’s Welfare Cultural Award from the then Ministry of Welfare.

Anne of Green Gables is a trademark and a Canadian official mark of the Anne of Green Gables Licensing Authority Inc.
