| ⑤ ラフレシア アーノルディ Movies Rafflesia arnoldii この植物は、１８１８年５月２０日、副総督のトーマス・ラッフルズ卿とジョセフ・アーノルド博士によって南スマトラのマンナ川付近で初めて発見された。発見者二人の名前を冠したこの寄生植物は、根も茎も葉もない。重さは７ｋｇにもなり、直径１ｍの花が咲く。 This plant was first found on 20 May 1818, by the naturalist Lieutenant-Governor Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles and Dr. Joseph Arnold, at Lubuktapi Bengkulu, a spot near the Manna River, in Southern Sumatra. This parasitic plant, which is named after the two men, has no visible roots or stems, and no leaves. It weighs up to 7 kilograms, and its petals grow to a meter in length. |
| ① ケリムツ湖 Movies Kelimutu Lake ケリムツ山は、インドネシア、フローレス島にある。ケリとは山、ムツは沸騰を意味し、あわせて火山の意である。１，６９０ｍのこの山は、火口群内にそれぞれ異なる色の三つの湖があり、別名「三色湖」とも呼ばれる（ケリムツ湖）。 Mount Kelimutu is located on Flores Island of Indonesia. In the local language, “keli” means mountain and “mutu” means boiling.. The two words together mean volcano, which describes what this mountain is. However, there is something special about this 1,690-meter-high mountain compared with others. Inside the huge crater there are three lakes filled with water of different colors. This feature gives the volcano its other name, “The Three Colored Lakes.” |
